Another Chapter for the Reelfs Family Print E-mail

Some of you may have gotten an email from Kevin about the fact that he accepted a job transfer to Huntsville, Alabama. If not, then now you are informed as fo this reading.

It was a tough decision to make as we have family, church family, work friends, and a great life here in Southern California. We decided that it was time to get out of the traffic, the 45 minute commute to work, the California Real Estate market, and make a change. There are also a  lot of opportunities in Huntsville for Kevin profesionally, and that is part of our decision.

Kevin has never lived outside of Burbank or Simi Valley or even left the continental U.S. on a trip before. This will be a growing experience, and our kids are young and it will be easier on us to have me continue to stay home, and it's more financially feasible there than it is here to do so.

We will keep you informed as we know more, but for now, wish us luck!

Terminally fun Friday
By Rob Griffiths
For today’s Friday tip installment, I’ve actually got two non-tips. Neither of the following ‘tips’ will help you work faster, make you smarter, increase your net worth, eliminate global warming, or otherwise prove useful in the long run. However, that doesn’t mean they’re not fun, and every so often, we all need just a bit of fun, right?
The first ‘tip’ is one man’s amazingly intricate tribute to Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope…done completely in animated ASCII text in your Terminal window. Simon Jansen has been working on this, bit by bit, since July of 1997. The movie isn’t complete yet, but there’s an amazing amount of work that has been done. You could go watch it on his Web site, but where’s the geekiness in that? Instead, fire up Terminal and type:
Press Return, then sit back and enjoy the show. If you (gasp!) tire of the performance before it ends, just hit Control-C to break the connection, then close the Terminal window. And if you’d rather not type the command directly in Terminal, you can actually launch it via most web browsers—just use this URL: telnet://

We Will Miss You - How About a Going Awa

Dear Kevin: Even though I haven't seen you in a while, I am still saddened that you will be leaving SoCal; but of course wish you well on your new adventures. I remember discussing this possible move with you, when we both worked at OAO, and it was being acquired by Lockheed. You were tired of the commute even then; but saw opportunities at the Call Center that Lockheed had set up in Alabama. And of course there would come a point where the JPL contract would, uh, contract, and since it is up for renewal in 2007, and the Real Estate Market here is no longer certain, it is just as well that you chose this moment in time to make a change. My understanding is that you will be moving about a month from now. Why not arrange a good-bye party for family and friends in the near future so we can all wish you and your family well and on your way? Or Good Riddance, Ya Bum, if you're not a fan of weepy sentiments. Nevertheless, I'll miss you, but hope that I'll be able to keep in touch. Regards, Abrey. P.S. Hmmm. Does that mean there's a job opening now at LMIT? Is it worth applying for? You would know best whether it was a good deal or not. ;)
